Eversdal Triathlon

Friday 17 November was the long awaited day! It was the Eversdal Triathlon. An opportunity for kids to compete against each other, with each other and with (or in some cases against) their parents.

This year we were very fortunate, as the weather played along and we had ideal conditions. Eversdal Primary School is very fortunate to still have a pool that is in working order. And the swimming leg was thoroughly enjoyed.

The cycling leg was modified a little bit to make it safer and more challenging and this too worked very well. Many athletes struggled with the steep climbs into the parking lots, but no-one expected anything less than a challenge.

The running leg is most athletes favourite part. How many times do you have an opportunity to run through the school with teachers encouraging you to run! Of course the new addition of a mini obstacle course was a great hit!

Next year will be the next evolution of the triathlon with new surprises and challenges.

Thank you to everyone who competed this year! I trust we will see all of you next year again!

KASKARDAG

The level of enjoyment and competitivity was sky high amongst the learners and teachers at the Everrally. In each grade we had a winning class whom will receive their prizes as soon as the announcement is made.

As part of the Funpark, we had blow-up soccer which was a big hit among the learners. Even Mr Arangies and Ms. Rheerder joined in on the action. Some of the other favourites included the Parachute simulator, Space Gyro and Bungee Trampoline.

We are looking forward to our Everally and Funpark 2018, where we will be looking to make it even bigger and better!

We also had the opportunity to listen to our learners whom performed exceptionally well at the Eisteddfod. What a privilege to have so many talented Evers. We certainly ended off the year on a high note.

Mr Arangies welcomed our guests. On behalf of our learners, Anchen Truter, a Gr 7 learner, thanked guests for their financial contribution, time and ability.

There was entertainment galore and fun for all. The Marimba Band played typical, upbeat tunes to get everyone in the mood for the festivities.

Then the hilarious Suzelle showed us how to make the most of our time on the beach.

This first time event was held on Thursday evening.  Verwey, Eksteen and Tulbagh competed against one another. Thank you to all our parents for your support during the season.

This year was no different and 31 August arrived.  We were blessed with a beautiful evening and young and old could gather on the school premises to take part in various games and fun activities.

A few new fun activities were implemented and the enjoyment was visible!  Thank you to everyone who helped to ensure the smooth running of the evening!

The winter holiday has passed and we are back in full swing. A warm word of welcome to all our Ever families. We wish our new Evers the happiest of days at Eversdal. May you all enjoy the this proud community. Please remember that the third term is synonymous with Damus – we give! As we focus on giving to those in need we learn to appreciate how fortunate we are.

Netiquette

Written by , on 29 May 2017
Post category: Eversdal General News

As part of our Cyber Wellness Curriculum, we discuss netiquette with our classes. It is all about etiquette on the net (internet).

We discuss how one should behave online. What is acceptable and what is unacceptable. The two main goals of cyber wellness are 1) to be safe online and 2) to maintain your own and other people’s dignity online.

  3. Do not share your password with other people.
  4. Do not make use of fake profiles.
  5. Do not type in CAPS LOCK unless it is your intention to yell something out.

In the next blog we will be talking about our digital dossier.
