The first few weeks of Term 1 are behind us and dust is starting to settle on the Ever farm. Thank you to all parents who attended the Information Evening and picnic. A hot topic for 2020 was our new NO homework policy. As parents we all remember coming home from school and having a lot of homework to do, this occupied valuable time we could have spent on hobbies, sport and family time.
As parents and educators, we would like to develop our children into balanced responsible adults. This needs to start in class. When learners take responsibility for working during school hours, they will be able to achieve success while having the teacher there to support them.
At home parents can support this strategy by focusing on reading. Use the time spent on homework to read… anything and everything! Imagine a child using the 2 hours spent daily on homework now reading for 2 hours!
Mathematics can be practiced on any platform.
In the fast-changing world we live in, we need to keep up with our children and their amazing ability to adapt.
