Laerskool Eversdal het hierdie week erkenning gegee aan Gr. 4-7-leerders vir hul deelname aan sport, kultuur en akademie. Ons leerders het in 2019 op hierdie gebiede nie net deelgeneem nie, maar fantasties presteer. Die verskeidenheid van aktiwteite waarin ons leerders uitgeblink het, was werklik ‘n toonbeeld van gebalanseerde, gelukkige kinders. Ons toppresteerders was:

During these evenings we were reminded that children of today experience the content of the curriculum differently and we must adapt and make sure that it is relevant to their future. We must look at the holistic development of the child and bear that in mind when we teach and physically structure the school. Over the past eight years Eversdal Primary School systematically positioned itself to be able to do just that, to provide innovative holistic teaching. Our aim is to prepare our learners for a workforce of the future. We want all our learners to be prepared by giving them specific skill sets, not some of them, but all of them. The achievements of our learners confirmed this effort.
Wanneer ons kyk na wat die wêreld van ons kinders verwag en watter eise die samelewing aan hulle gaan stel oor vyf, tien of vyftien jaar, is dit duidelik dat verandering nie net belangrik is nie, maar ook noodsaaklik. Mnr. Arangies het weer in sy toespraak bevestig dat ons skoolgemeenskap uit verskeie komponente bestaan, waarvan die kind die spilpunt is waarom alles draai. Dit maak ons as ouers en onderwysers soms ongemaklik, maar ons moet optree in die beste belang vir die toekoms van ons leerders.
During 2019 classrooms throughout the school were changed and transformed from fixed layouts to interactive spaces, promoting idea sharing and creative communication, resembling an open space office.
The sport fields are being upgraded to create more space for learners to develop physically through play and exploration. The new Van Schalkwyk Learner and Innovation Hub will be the ideal place to explore the new curriculum by learner-led creative learning. This new space will enable our two full-time robotics teachers to work with up to 60 learners at a time. Looking back over the past few years we can now see why changing our curriculum was so important. Now we have an adaptable, interactive vehicle to deliver content in a way to teach the skill sets we so deeply desire to equip our learners with.
