ECO BRICK PROJECT

As an educational institution it is of utmost importance to prepare critical thinking learners in order for them to question certain aspects of our daily lives. One of the major concerns in this regard is surely the amount of plastic that ends up in our oceans annually. Not only is this detrimental for the beauty of our natural world, it also critically endangers various animal species.

In the light of the aforementioned, the Ever family decided to start an Eco-brick building project. The aim of this project is to drastically reduce the amount of everyday plastics laying around in our classrooms as well as around the school grounds by compacting these different forms of plastic into 2 Litre bottles. If the plastic inside the bottle is thoroughly compacted, the bottle will be a strong structure and as hard as a brick. This can therefore be used to construct various structures such as new classrooms or even houses for the underprivileged.

This project will continue until the end of the year where the bricks will then be donated to one of our chosen organizations. The project transcends the ethos of our school; Damus, WE GIVE!
