YOUNG ENGINEERS FAST FIVE NETBALL TOURNAMENT

On 26 July Eversdal Primary hosted another successful Fast Five tournament. This year saw eight teams compete in this fast pace, high scoring game. In Fast Five netball only five players are allowed on court, testing their every ounce of fitness and up to 4 points can be scored for a goal.

The tournament promised endless excitement and overall high energy from all the players and spectators. The winning dance went to Monte Vista, taking away the wonderful “Jump around” prize.

Congratulations to Eversdal on winning the bronze medal. We would like to thank Young Engineers for their kind sponsorship to host this event, also for the amazing prizes.

PREMIER ZILLE ENCOURAGED AND EXCITED ABOUT OUR NEW CURRICULUM AND TABLET PROGRAM

26 July 2018 was a validation that our vision for e-learning is on track. We were very privileged to welcome Premier Helen Zille to Eversdal. The Premier has a focus on education, specifically e-learning and was excited to see what the school is doing.

After we discussed our technology integration journey since 2012, we could share our infrastructure developments and how other schools could benefit from our model. The fact that we have a very effective infrastructure, that is less expensive and sustainable were interesting to the Premier. She was impressed by our relationship with Klapmuts Primary School and how the two schools work together.

We could demonstrate our new curriculum and teaching through OneNote. This was a very exciting part of the discussion and it was a validation for us to know that our philosophy is in line with the Western Cape Government’s outcomes.

On the school tour we stopped at several classes so that the Premier could see how we teach. Our new horse shoe desks in Grade 1 and Grade 4 made for interesting conversations about classroom management. We also walked into classes in different grades. We showcased our STEM room and Science laboratory and she experienced first-hand how learners code.

The Premier enjoyed all her interaction with our Evers. We would like to thank her for taking the time to visit Eversdal.

EVERVARIA

Evervaria 2018 was ‘n reuse sukses! Daar was 25 items waarvan altesaam 37 leerders deel was.

The audience was also entertained by our own teachers – good humor and faultless dance steps were enjoyed by young and old.

Congratulations to all our finalists for your braveness and enthusiasm! All of you are true Evers!

HOCKEY vs EIKESTAD PRIMARY SCHOOL

Despite cold weather the Evers did us proud with good results vs Eikestad.

EDUCATION SUMMIT 2018

Personnel from Eversdal Primary School were privileged enough to attend the annual Education Summit at the Protea Hotel, Stellenbosch.  Ten of our educators spent the past weekend listening to various motivational speakers. The speakers ranged from Dr Peter Zilla, head of Cardio-thoracic Surgery at Grootte Schuur Hospital, to a paraplegic motivational speaker and 10 times Boston Marathon winner, Ernst van Dyk.  The theme for the Summit was:  Be a Game Changer.

Our u/10B, u/11B, u/14B & C boys and girls took part in this festival. The players enjoyed playing against teams from other parts than the Northern Suburbs. Thank you to our coaches and umpires for their support.

IT INFORMATION EVENING

On Wednesday we conducted a successful IT Information Evening on our teaching strategy. Parents of our grade 4-7 learners attended the sessions while their children enjoyed a movie in the Skuur.

After a brief overview of the technical upgrades we have made since 2012, it was clear that we have not only done numerous infrastructure upgrades, but spent many hours training our staff in changing our methodology. Credit must go to our staff for embracing our philosophy to change to a modern approach of delivering content.

Mnr.

Important is to understand that learners are empowered to be actively involved in their own learning. After the class visit we had a question and answer session in the hall to provide answers to parents.

We are very excited about the ways we teach and to see the support we receive from our parents. Thank you to all our parents that attended.  We are proud Evers!

EVERSDAL EN KLAPMUTS VAT HANDE

TRUE TO OUR MOTTO, DAMUS: WE GIVE!

We are very excited to collaborate with Klapmuts and their very capable staff.

This morning, through the help of our Damus project, we were able to deliver three Mimio pens to Klapmuts Primary School. These will assist their staff to work more effective with electronic media. Not only do we assist with the set up infrastructure, but we are more excited to share curriculum content.

On Friday our Evers played hockey against Paarl Gimnasium and rugby and netball on Saturday. In totaal is daar 82 wedstryde gespeel.  A huge thank you to all our coaches for your dedication and time spent accompanying our Evers.  We wish to thank our parents for their support.  Once again, I am very proud to be part of this great team!

LAERSKOOL EVERSDAL 0/9A RUGBYTOERNOOI

We had five neighbouring schools taking part in this tournament.  The boys enjoyed a cold and rainy afternoon on the field, but still played exceptionally well regardless of the wet conditions.

We thank all our visiting schools for taking the time and making the effort to participate in this great afternoon of junior rugby.
